Ahh, the mass media!

The Emmy award nominations are out! Used to be I never cared, but I watch more TV now. And, dare I say, as scripted dramas make a comeback - the TV's actually a bit better!

The full list is available from this site.

Top nominees: "The Secret Life of Peter Sellers" and "Warm Springs," both with 16 nods.
"Lost" got 12 nods, "Deadwood" got I think 11, as did "Arrested Development," "Carnivale" got 8. "House" got 5, including a best actor nod for Hugh Laurie! No lead acting nods for "Lost" but Terry O'Quinn and Naveen Andrews both got a supporting nod. The primetime Emmys air Sunday, September 18.

In other TV news, apparently Comedy Central will be airing repeats of "Scrubs," bless their little hearts.

And now you may return to your regularly scheduled whatever it is you're doing.

You know, with all I've heard about it, now that it's not on the same night as "House" anymore I reckon I should give this show a try.

The Emmys will get no respect from me until they recognize the Gilmore Girls in some way. Much like Buffy, it's like they don't know how to categorize it, comedy or drama. But either way, it's the best dialogue on TV since Aaron Sorkin left (and possibly before he left; his last season was not great).

I've never seen the Gilmore Girls, and it feels too late to get into it now. But yeah, in a lot of ways the Emmys are stodgy and ridiculous ("Will and Grace" gets FIFTEEN nods?), but I like to see the things I like doing well also. I'm glad to note they have put "Desperate Housewives" in with comedies, along with "Monk," proving that not every comedy has to be a sitcom. It's true they never had any idea what to do with Buffy but give it make-up awards...

I was the same way about the Gilmore Girls, but then I was lent the first three seasons. I got through the first two and I must say it's pretty good.

I'd be happy to lend it to you - I have season 1 readily available - Tracy has my copies of 2&3 which are slated for Kim next, but I'd be happy for you to borrow them after that :)

Don't know if you saw it, but I figured this would make you happy - under "Outstanding Music and Lyrics"
Reefer Madness Song: Mary Jane/Mary Lane, Showtime

Oh goodness! That's IDEAL! Yeah, the list was so huge I just sort of scanned it for the stuff I watch regularly.

Also: The "Glen" ad for Starbucks got nominated for an Emmy! (The one where the guys all sing "Glen! Glen Glen Glen!" like it's "Eye of the Tiger.)
